Barcelona has the lowest fares for the public transport in the European Union, this is evidenced by the statistics provided by the ATM consortium in conjunction with the Serd Institute
The city managed to set such a record thanks to the T-10 ticket, the owner of which can use the metro, bus, tram or suburban train for only one euro. This type of subscription is the result of an agreement between the city authorities and the public, opposing the growth of the travel prices during the economic crisis. Barcelona is also looking good among the European cities for the cost of the one-time tickets: here the fare is 2.15 euros. Lower tariffs can only be found in Lisbon, Rome, Madrid, Paris and Brussels.
