In Catalonia you can easily lose not only your wallet but also your car. On average 34 cars are hijacked daily, and every year 12,500 are stolen. Such figures were presented by the union of insurance companies UNESPA.
Half of the owners of disappeared vehicles are living in Barcelona and its suburbs. However, the capital of Catalonia itself is not as dangerous as its municipality Sant Adrià de Besòs, where all records on the number of missing cars have been broken. The second place in the sad rating is taken by the municipality of La Canonja, which is located in Tarragona. And, finally, the owners of Mercedes, Audi, Toyota and similar cars should remain alert next to the French border: many professional – hijackers are waiting for their chance there.
Despite the frightening figures, drivers in many Spanish regions remain «without wheels» even more often than in Catalonia. However, Barcelona autonomous region took «bronze» on the number of house thefts: more often than here houses are robbed only in Madrid and Andalusia.
